Scenic trail along Rt. 2 between Harvard and Montague commemorates folk hero John Chapman, known as "Johnny Appleseed." The trail traverses the region's orchards and charming small towns. The Johnny Appleseed Visitor Center is at the eastern end of the trail in Lancaster.
